S/Sgt Leo W. Fry graduated from Altoona High School and was employed by he Pennsylvania Railroad Company.

He enlisted at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland on 10 March 1942.

On 15 August 1943 he was married to Loretta Moore.

He was reported as missing in action in France on 26 August 1944 but returned to his outfit. He wrote his wife that he had been away from his outfit for several days and that he was in Belgium.
