More information
Pfc Joe H. Graham attended Highlands High School and was a carpenter. He enlisted in Santa Fe, New Mexico on 18 January 1944.
Adela Graham, who was four months pregnant at the time of her husband's death, wrote these words regarding him: "He was first reported missing then five days later reported killed in action. He only had a ten day furlough from South Carolina. He planned to come back and be a good farmer. He had just bought a big ranch and wanted to buy all the necessary things for his use. Also to build a good home for his family. He only received one letter from his mother and one letter from his wife. The last letters I got from him he said that he'll be home for x-mas and that he expected the next year to be at home with us. He told me in his letters that if he don't come back, to take his sons to good schools and give good education."
