Lester R. Cook worked for the Cleveland Container Company in Cleveland. He enlisted at Fort Thomas in Newport, Kentucky on 31 March 1944. He trained at Tyler, Texas. After three months he was sent overseas.On 23 February 1945 he volunteered to cross the Roer river with A company and ran into a machine gun nest.
