1st Lt Kenneth R. Knowe is remembered on the gravestone of his parents at the Saint Mary's Episcopal Churchyard in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
Kenneth "Knobby" Russell Knowe, a graduate of Rogers High School, he received his degree from Rhode Island State College at Kingston, Rhode Island in 1938.

He had been overseas since May of 1944, entering the army in March 1941, he trained with the infantry at Fort Benning Ga., Fort George Meade, Md., and Fort McCoy, Wis. A few days before his death, "Knobby" received a call from his brother, Major Knowe, who planned to visit him, but postponed the trip when he learned it was an all-day journey.
