Pfc Joseph A. Kloskie graduated from Coughlin High School and was employed as an inspector for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation.He enlisted in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on 24 November 1943 and was sent overseas in May 1944.
He was reported wounded in action twice. On 10 August 1944, he was hit by shrapnel in the right thigh and was hospitalized in England until 5 October 1944, after which he returned to his unit. He was wounded in the head in Belgium on 20 January 1945 and was hospitalized for a few weeks and agains was sent back to his outfit.
Pfc Joseph A. Kloskie was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously. On 20 December 1944 Pvt Kloskie and a comrade remained in their positions during an enemy counterattack after the remainder of their platoon had been forced to withdraw. Their stand prevented the enemy from penetrating the line and aided in the success of a counterattack by American forces.
