Lt Kuhn graduated from New Lexington High School in 1934 and attended George Washington University. Afterwards he worked for the government in Washington, D.C.

He enlisted in 1942 and was sent overseas in July 1944.

He was reported wounded in action 22 November 1944 and recovered in a hospital in England for two months before returning tto his unit.

His brother, S/Sgt John B. Kuhn, was reported missing in action in Germany on 19 March 1945 but survived the war.
