T/Sgt Harry G. Walter worked in a a grocery store when he joined the National Guard in Miami, Florida on 25 November 1940.He was married to Anna Ruth McClain on 12 April 1942
He was sent overseas in February 1944.
He was wounded in action in August of 1944. For this wound he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. In late October of 1944 he was sent back into action.
