More information
Pfc Robert Eaglesome emigrated to the United States as Robert Auchenvole on the SS Transylvania on 20 June 1926, arriving in New York. He was adopted by the Eaglesome family who where his grandparents. The other children of the family are here noted as his siblings because of this adoption. He enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 14 June 1944.
According to the daily journal of the battalion, C Company had closed into Selgersdorf during the day in support of 2nd Battalion and was returning to the positions of the 1st Battalion near Hambach when they were attacked by German airplanes. During this attack five men of the company were killed. It is possible that Pfc Eaglesome was one of the casualties.
