More information

The picture shows Pfc Adams awaiting German counterattacks in his foxhole in the vicinity of Bardenberg and Würselen, Germany on 17 October 1944.

He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for leading a patrol into enemy territory on 26 November 1944. The same day, he was also awarded the Silver Star Medal for destroying enemy tanks. The citation reads: Pfc Adams, with a companion, knocked out two tanks and held four others at bay with a bazooka during a 30th Division action in Germany 26 November. The Germans had struck back at Pfc Adams's company with six tanks and supporting infantry. Using a bazooka, PfcAdams and his comrade advanced to meet the onslaught and fought them off untill artillery caused the remaining tanks to withdraw. 'Their courageous action was primarly responsible for the repulse of the counterattack.

He is remembered at the Whiteford Union Cemetery in Lambertville, Monroe County, Michigan.
