More information

Thomas Meehan landed in France on 11 June 1944.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action in July 1944 in France. During a fire fight several of his comrades were wounded. Unmindful of the personal risk, he rushed to the aid of the wounded. While administering aid a shell burst and severely wounded him but despite the agony of his personal injuries he continued to administer first aid to those around him until he became unconscious and was evacuated.
