On Pfc Whitaker's birth record, his name was Louie Douglas Whittaker, but he always went by the name Douglas. The Military dropped one of the T's when he enlisted.He was married to Edna Prater at the time of his death. He had four children, Mary from another woman, Steve, Mike and Larry all from Edna.
Pfc Louie Withaker was a furniture manufacturer.
He enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 20 January 1944.
