Herman W. Prawdzik was attending Frakford High School when he joined the U.S. Army Reserve in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 8 March 1944. He had been overseas since October 1944.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
