T/4 Benjamin H. Rylah enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 27 July 1942.He attended high school for 4 years and was an accountant before he enlisted.
He was first lightly wounded in the leg on 9 June 1944. In July 1944 he was wounded by artillery fragments and hospitalized for 46 days. He was awarded a Purple Heart for each of these actions.
T/4 Rylah was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Grand Failly, France.
