Pfc Bernard D. Muller attended St. Dominic's Parochial School in Baltimore, and was studying for the priesthood at Holy Cross Seminary in New York.He enlisted in Baltimore, Maryland on 4 August 1942 and was sent to England in September 1943.
On D-day his unit was assigned to land behind the German line near Carentan. In that engagement he was wounded. He recovered in time to take part in the air assault against the Germans in The Netherlands.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, The Netherlands.
