Sgt Clifford L. Buren attended high school for three years and was a chauffeur.

He enlisted in Portland, Oregon on 20 July 1942.

He participated in the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France.

Together with two other men in his squad, he was killed by an exploding grenade. His last words were "My god, I'm dying".

His father and his grandparents from his mother's side were born in the Netherlands.
