Pvt Philip W. Langschultz attended high school for two years and worked in fabrication of metal products.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States in New York City, New York on 5 September 1942. He trained at Fort Benning, Florida.
He was injured in a practice jump before D-Day and missed the invasion.

He was first buried at the the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
