Rudolph E. Bolte graduated from Davenport High School and the University of Iowa. He was a lawyer.He enlisted at Fort Des Moines, Iowa on 22 June 1942. He was selected for officers training which he took at Fort Benning, Georgia and volunteered for the paratroopers. He was sent overseas in September 1943.
Lt Bolte participated in the D-Day invasion.
According to eyewitnesses, Lt Bolte was shot in the head as he tried to climb over a barbed wire.
His name is mentioned on the Airborne Monument at the Airbornelaan in Eindhoven.
