1st Lt Raymond G. Schmitz graduated from St George Gigh School in 1937.He enlisted in Chicago, Illinois on 23 April 1941. He was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in 1942 and promoted to 1st Lieutenant in August 1943. He went overseas in November 1943.
He died from the concussion of exploding ammunition that was loaded on a burning truck.
Lt. Raymond G. Schmitz is remembered at the Saint Mary's Cemetery in Northbrook, Illinois.
