S/Sgt Leo L. Cannon was a former employee of the Frank Fehr Brewing Company and former inspector at Hillerich & Bradsby.

He enlisted on 8 March 1942 at Louisville, Kentucky. He had been overseas thirteen months.

S/Sgt Cannon and Pfc Joseph U. Shircliff, who were neighbors, both were reported missing on 8 November 1944. They were inducted together, trained together and had been serving in the same outfit through France, Belgium and into Germany. Pfc Shircliff was taken prisoner on that day and liberated after the war.

S/Sgt Cannon is also remembered at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky with a memorial marker.
