T/Sgt William F. Offenstein graduated from Atwood High School, where he was a star athlete, in 1940.

He enlisted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 16 September 1942 and was sent overseas in December 1943.

His brother Richard H. Offenstein is buried next to him.

T/Sgt William F. Offenstein was first buried at the Temporary American Miliatry Cemetery in Villeneuve-Sur-Auvers, France.
