Pvt Thomas J. Hunnel worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Note: On the picture he poses in the uniform the civilian employees of the Naval Ammunition Depot wore.

He enlisted in Abingdon, Virginia on 29 November 1943.
He was wounded in action, taken prisoner in the vicinity of Vossenack, Hürtgen Forest, Germany and probably died of his wounds in a German field hospital the same day.
