Pvt Franklin T. Hollinger attended high school for three years before he enlisted in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 2 June 1943. He was sent overseas in September 1944.He was taken prisoner on 20 December 1944. He was first held prisoner at Stalag XII-A in Limburg an der Lahn, Germany. When Allied forces advanced eastwards, this camp was evacuated and the prisoners were transported by freight trains to Stalag IX-B in Bad Orb, Germany, where he died on 3 March 1945.
