1st Lt Julian W. Farrior received his BS and MS degree at North Carolina State College where he was in the Forestry Club and ROTC. He was employed in Richmond, Virginia before entering the service.

He enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 1 June 1942.
Since 22 July 1944, when his unit arrived in France, he was in combat.
