S/Sgt Howard C. Cripps graduated from Webster High School. He enlisted on 8 April 1941 in Syracuse, New York.He was reported wounded in action on 3 August 1944 and later returned to his unit a short time before his death.
According to his company commander, Jack Greene, he was killed by a burst of machine gun fire while on a necessary patrol.
