Pvt Robert H. Jarman enlisted at Fort McPherson Atlanta, Georgia on 6 July 1943.

He was taken prisoner on 20 December 1944 and was first held prisoner at Stalag XII-A in Limburg an der Lahn, Germany. When Allied forces advanced eastwards, this camp was evacuated and the prisoners were transported by freight trains to Stalag IX-B in Bad Orb, Germany, where he died on 10 February 1945.

He is remembered at the Hazlehurst City Cemetery in Hazlehurst, Jeff Davis County, Georgia.
