Pvt Orville D. `Bud` Mayrhofen died at the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest.

He was employed as an automobile mechanic at Granite, Greer County, for some time prior to entering the army. He was employed at the Johnson Garage when he was inducted into the service on 28 March 1944.
Pvt Mayrhofen received his basic training at Camp Robinson, Little Rock, Arkansas. He went overseas during the latter part of September 1944.
