Pfc Ford O. Hiddleston joined the National Guard in Lawrence, Kansas on 23 December 1940.He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously for his action on the day of his death. While driving a light truck, he allowed other men to move their machines and men to safety, while he remained and taking enemy fire.
