Pvt Gordon E. Dexter attended high school for four years and was a machine operator at the Erving Paper Mills before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 20 April 1944.He was killed by small arms fire in his neck.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
He is also remembered at the South Cemetery in Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts.
