More information

Sgt Robert D. Tester was on board the Troopship “Rohna”. The HMT Rohna was a British transport ship carrying American soldiers. It was hit by a German radio-guided, rocket-boosted glide bomb, fired from a HE 177 off the coast of Algeria near Bougie.

Sgt Tester's remains washed ashore in Algeria and he was buried at the American Military Cemetery of El Alia in Algeria on 9 January 1944.

At the request of his mother his remains were transferred to Henri-Chapelle for permanent reinterment on 27 February 1948 beside his two brothers.
