Pfc Eldred V. Hill attended college and was employed with the Graves County Board of Education as a teacher and also coach of a basketball team at Lowes before he enlisted in Evansville, Indiana on 21 August 1943. He was sent overseas in May 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his loin.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Cemetery in Andille, France.
