Pvt Charles R. Noel was employed by the Dairy Express Company at Fort Edward before he enlisted at Fort Dix, New Jersey on 8 April 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his thigh.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
