Pfc Ervin H. Propst attended high school for three years and was employed at the Drexel Furniture Company before he enlisted at Camp Croft, South Carolina on 16 September 1943. He was sent overseas on 28 May 1944.

He died in an Army General Hospital in France on 23 January 1945 from severe wounds and fractures of the right thigh and right arm sustained in action in Belgium on 15 January 1945.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Solers, France.
