More information

2nd Lt Albert J. Gibeau Jr. attended high school for four years and was employed at the St. Regis Paper Company before he enlisted at Fort Niagara, New York on 18 February 1942.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: On 15 January, Lt Gibeau led his section forward to support an attack on Oubourcy. With complete disregard for personal safety, he supervised the placing of his guns in position on each flank despite intense concentrations of enemy fire, and was killed by an enemy artillery shell while moving from one gun position to another.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.
