Pfc George J. Gould graduated from Greenville High School in 1935and worked for the Gibson Refrigerator Co.He enlisted in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 2 January 1943. He received his basic training at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. From there he was transferred to Fort Meade Maryland, then to Camp McCoy, where he was a ski instructor and later trained troops in the Upper Peninsula. He embarked for overseas service from Camp McCoy at Easter time in 1944.
His brothers Glenn and Charles also served during the war.
