Pvt Jule A. Silva enlisted at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts on 8 June 1944.
He attended 2 years of high school and was a chauffeur before he enlisted.

On 8 and 9 February the 10th Infantry Regiment made an attack on the Siegfried Line, crossing the Sauer River near Weilerbach under fire of enemy machine-guns and artillery. A lot of the rubber and wooden boats were destroyed during the river crossing.
