Pvt William J. Johnson graduated from West High School. He was associated with his father in the Johnson and Son company.

He enlisted in March 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Roberts, California and then was sent to the Aleutians. After nine months of service in the North Pacific Islands, he returned to the United States and trained at Fort Chaffee. In the summer of 1944, he was sent overseas to England.

Pvt Johnson was taken prisoner and died of wounds in a POW camp.
