Paul H. Loar worked for the Baltimore and Ohio raidroad as a brakeman.

He enlisted at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 27 February 1944 and was sent overseas in August 1944.

He was wounded in action in France on 14 September 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.
