Sgt Lester D. Richmond was a welder before he enlisted in Clarksburg, West Virginia on 12 May 1943.

At the time of his death, the 10th Infantry Regiment was engaged in the vicinity of Courcelles-sur-Nied, France.

He is remembered at the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Greene Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.
