Pfc Marshall F. Phelps attended college for one year and was employed at the New York Central Railroad before he enlisted at Fort Custer, Michigan on 31 March 1942.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
His brother, Donald A. Phelps, is buried next to him and his brother, Gene R. Phelps, is remembered on the Walls of the Missing at the North African American Cemetery in Tunisia.
