S/Sgt Vann B. Pickett attended high school for three years and was employed at a Texaco Service Station before he enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 15 June 1942.He was killed by small arms fire to his stomach and thigh.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
He is remembered at the Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Siler City, Chatham County, North Carolina.
