2nd Lt Irving E. Campbell Jr. attended college for four years and was an insurance salesman. He was star tackle of L.S.U. in 1937, 1938 and 1939, and a participant in the 1938 Sugar Bowl game and the 1939 Blue-Gray game.He volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort McClellan, Alabama on 18 June 1942.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
He is also remembered at the Fayette City Cemetery in Fayette, Fayette County, Alabama.
