Maj Warren E. Sauter attended Wyoming University and graduated from law school. Following graduation he entered the service of the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he served until he entered the armed forces.He was seriously wounded in action in France on 9 October 1944 and died on 11 October 1944.
He is remembered at the Highland Cemetery in Casper, Natrona County, Wyoming.
