More information

Pvt Elmer J. Milbyer was employed by Halcomb Division of Crucible Steel Company.
He joined the Army in June, 1943 and was sent overseas in December 1943.

He was reported seriously wounded in action on 29 July 1944 and had returned to his unit on 6 October 1944.

During the battle for Schmidt, Pvt Milbyer was wounded on his foot and was given permission to return behinds the lines to search medical aid. That was the last time he was seen alive.
