Pvt James F. Bass enlisted at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas on 29 January 1944He attended Elementary School in Pericco, Turkey, Texas for 8 years and High School for 4 years in Portales, New Mexico. He married Delora Mae Turney on 18 March 1940.
He was a Salesman for Liggett and Myers Tabacco Company. Pvt Bass trained at Camp Fanning at Tyler, Texas. He went overseas on 5 August 1944 and served in England, France, Belgium and Germany.
