Pvt Charles G. Lallas was graduated from Pennsylvania Military Academy in 1936 and attended Pennsylvania Military College for two years before becoming associated with his father in the banana business.He enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 1 May 1944. He received his basic training at Camp Croft, South Carolina. He had been serving overseas since 29 October 1944.
