Pvt Vernon E. Cox enlisted at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on 3 April 1944. He attended high school for 3 years and was a chauffeur before he enlisted.

The remains of Pvt Cox were found in Vossenack and initially registered as Unknown X-6050. He was evacuated to Ardennes Cemetery and could be identified at the research facilities.
