T/4 Charles N. Kirbach worked as a stock clerk and operated a service station before he enlisted in Peoria, Illinois on 7 May 1943.

He was married to Eileen Berline on 1 August 1940.

He was initially reported as missing in action. His remains of T/4 Kirbach, however, were found in Germeter and initially registered as Unknown X-5509. He was evacuated to Ardennes Cemetery where he could be identified.

He is remembered at the Saint John's Cemetery in Carrollton, Greene County, Illinois.
