2nd Lt Stephen P. Padak graduated from West and Edison Technical High Schools and was employed by the Otis Elevator Company.

He enlisted in Rochester, New York on 17 August 1942. He was sent overseas in May 1944.

Lt Padak was reported wounded in action in France on 31 July 1944. He received shrapnel wounds in his left thigh.
