Thomas T. Flynn was a chauffeur for James Davis and Sons.He enlisted in Cincinnati, Ohio on 5 August 1943. He received his training at Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi, and Fort Dix, New Jersey and was sent overseas in March 1944. He participated in the D-Day invasion on Utah Beach on 6 June 1944.
He was wounded in action in France on 6 July 1944, evacuated to England and died three days later.
Pvt Flynn was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Brookwood, England.
He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross posthumously for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy on 5 July 1944.
His brother, James R. Flynn, was killed in action on 25 March 1945 and is buried next to him.
