Pvt James Beals was a driver before he enlisted in Akron, Ohio on 26 October 1942.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
His younger brother, Pvt Bruce K. Beals was killed on 25 July 1944. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery.
